15How We Recommend
The honest version
Trust is the entire product. Here is exactly how recommendations and money interact on LovelyNYC.
Editorial comes first. Places appear in our collection because an editor chose them, full stop. No business can buy its way into an editorial recommendation, and no business can pay to remove honest context.
Affiliate links. Some outbound links — experience bookings, hotel referrals, occasional gear — may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. As of today, no affiliate program is active on this site; when one is, those links will be labeled (“Booking partner” or “Affiliate link”) and carry rel="sponsored". We never invent prices or availability: live details always come from the partner or the official site.
Sponsorship. If a placement is paid, it says so, visibly, next to the content — never buried in a footer. We do not sell reviews, ratings, or favorable language, and we do not publish fake testimonials or visitor counts. There are currently no active sponsorships.
Verification. Every entry carries the date its details were last reviewed. Hours, prices, and menus change constantly in New York, so we point to official sources rather than pretending ours are live.
Photography. Illustrated plates are temporary placeholders awaiting our own photography. We don’t use unlicensed images.
