ASTORIA, QUEENS

The Bonnie

Ditmars' do-everything tavern — real cocktails at night, one of Astoria's best brunches by day.

The Bonnie brought a proper cocktail program to the Ditmars end of Astoria in 2014 and has been the neighborhood's all-purpose gathering room since: a handsome tavern up front, a bright garden-room feel beyond, recently refreshed in a renovation. The drinks are serious without ceremony, and the kitchen runs from bar snacks through full dinner.

Weekends it flips to one of Astoria's most dependable brunches, with a bottomless option that stays civilized. It's the kind of bar every neighborhood thinks it has and few actually do — good enough to plan around, easy enough to fall into after a walk to Astoria Park, ten minutes away.

Editor’s tip

Pair Saturday brunch here with the walk to Astoria Park and the Hell Gate Bridge views — the neighborhood's best one-two.
